13-Tones Xylophones: Hardwood Sound Bars

Xylophones with hardwood Sound Bars. All the xylophones have 32 x 10 mm (Soprano and Alto) or 36 x 12 mm (Bass) sound bars with overtone or fundamental tuning.

The bars printed with note names and staff positions, help the player connect the sound of the note with its notation, which is helpful when improvising or playing self-created melodies. From the other perspective the players get a feeling of how a play note sounds.

The newly designed particularly stable resonator box with enhanced acoustics are made of solid and 12 mm laminated birch. The sound bars and resonator boxes of Musicube xylophones are made of FSC certified timber from well managed forests. In addition, all wood surfaces are protected with Water-based paint, an environmentally safe, all-natural varnish.

For professional music lessons, these instruments fulfill every need. High quality bars combined with complex resonance chambers in the alto and bass ranges always produce ample volume and rich, strong sound. The instruments in the bass range are extremely compact, space saving and easy to carry.

Each xylophone is equipped with a carrying bag to stow 3 bars (2 x f-sharp, 1 x b-flat).

Hardwood vs Aluminum: The Xylophone Difference

Our catalog carries two Primary lines — the aluminum-bar metallophones and this hardwood-bar xylophone line. They are tuned to the same standards, but they do not sound the same, and teachers choose between them on purpose:

  • Warm, woody attack: hardwood bars speak with the traditional xylophone voice — drier, woodier, closer to orchestral percussion
  • Shorter decay: notes articulate clearly at speed, ideal for fast melodic passages and Orff repertoire
  • Rosewood-tone finish: the bright rosewood look that reads as a “real” percussion instrument on stage
  • Same classroom system: identical 16-bar three-key layout, cloth bag, handles and songbook as the metallophone line

Classrooms that already run the aluminum 051301 often add this xylophone as the second melodic color — same tuning bench, different palette.

Product Positioning

The 051305 Soprano opens our hardwood xylophone line: sixteen bars in a bright rosewood finish spanning C5 to A6, printed with note names and staff positions, mounted on a particularly stable resonator box of solid and 12 mm laminated birch. It is the professional-lessons instrument of the Primary range — the xylophone voice for teachers who want traditional hardwood articulation alongside their metallophone section.

It shares the production line, tuning bench and certification process with our own consumer brand Musicube — the same instrument that is already selling on the US retail market under the Musicube name. Complete the hardwood choir with the 051306 Alto (C4–A5, yellow mallets) and the 051307 Bass (C3–A4, baby blue mallets, extremely compact for its range).

Quality & Manufacturing

The resonator box is built from solid and 12 mm laminated birch with FSC® certified timber from well managed forests, finished in water-based paint — an environmentally safe, all-natural varnish. Hardwood bars receive the exclusive paint process for the clear and powerful sound and sit on flexible pins over multiple resonance chambers. Batch-level EN 71, ASTM F963 and GB 6675 reports are available for every shipment, issued under your brand name.

OEM / ODM: Make It Yours

Once the instrument is proven, the next question is how it starts carrying your brand:

  • Logo: print on the birch resonator box, from low trial quantities.
  • Songbook: your brand and your own song selection on the colored-keys songbook.
  • Mallet colors: the three-level hardness system can ship in your Pantone-matched colors at volume.
  • Packaging: the brown box takes a full-color sleeve, or we quote a full-color box from volume.
  • FSC® claims: chain-of-custody documentation supports your sustainability labeling under your brand.

The Top Register: What C5–A6 Does That No Other Voice Can

The soprano xylophone owns the brightest slice of the Orff range, and the 051305 uses it in ways the alto and bass models physically cannot:

  • Glockenspiel-adjacent sparkle: from C5 upward the hardwood bars cut through a full classroom ensemble, which is why melodies assigned to the 051305 stay audible without amplification
  • Fast articulation at small size: the 32 x 8 mm bars respond instantly, so sixteenth-note runs and ornamental figures stay clean at tempo
  • The register children imitate first: young players instinctively copy the highest voice they hear, making the soprano the natural demonstration instrument
  • A true descant part: recorder-flute-and-soprano-xylophone arrangements put the 051305 on the descant line while the 051306 alto carries the melody underneath

Every bar still carries its note name and staff position, so even at this speed and brightness the notation connection the line is built on never breaks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does this xylophone differ from the 051301 metallophone?

A: Bar material and voice. Both are 16-bar, three-key, C5–A6 soprano instruments sharing the same box platform — but the 051305 uses bright rosewood-finish hardwood bars with the traditional woody xylophone attack, while the 051301’s aluminum bars ring longer and brighter. Many classrooms carry both for tonal contrast.

Q: What does “printed with note names and staff positions” mean?

A: Each bar carries not only its letter name but its position on the musical staff — so a pupil reading sheet music sees the same symbol they play. It is the catalog’s visual-connection principle taken one step further than letter names alone.

Q: Can we buy the soprano, alto and bass xylophones as a set?

A: Yes — the 051305, 051306 and 051307 share construction, the three-key tuning system and certifications by design. Request a quote with all three SKUs and we will price the classroom set as one line with mixed carton loading.

Q: What is the MOQ for OEM orders?

A: MOQ and carton configuration depend on your customization level and destination market — they are confirmed on your quotation rather than a fixed published number. Send your quantity and target market for a costed proposal within 24 hours.
