Why the Bass Bars Are Thicker
The six lowest bars of the 051303 are not just longer — at 36 × 10 mm they are a full gauge class above the soprano and alto bars, because low frequencies demand moving mass. A thicker bar swings more air, holds its fundamental longer, and survives enthusiastic young players who have just discovered volume.
- Six bars at 36 × 10 mm cover the deepest sixth of the C3–A4 range
- Ten bars at 32 × 8 mm keep the upper bass register bright and quick-voiced
- The 356 mm resonance box gives those fundamentals the air volume they ask for
- Fundamental tuning means the pitch you hear is the pitch you read — no octave tricks
Bass Lines a Beginner Can Hold
- Root-note walking: one bar per bar of the song — the first bass line most children ever play
- Ground bass ostinato: a four-bar loop the whole class can improvise over
- I–V foundation: the bass roots that make the alto’s bordun sound like a full chord
- Ensemble anchor: when twenty instruments play, the bass is the clock everyone follows
Like its siblings, the 051303 tunes to C, G or F major with the add-on bars in the cloth bag — the whole choir modulates together, bass included.

Product Positioning
The 051303 Bass completes our three-part Primary metallophone platform: sixteen aluminum bars spanning C3 to A4, with the six lowest bars beefed up to 36 × 10 mm for real fundamental weight, all mounted on a towering birch resonance box. Above it, the 051302 Alto carries harmony and the 051301 Soprano leads melody — together the trio covers three octaves of classroom repertoire with one construction standard.
It shares the production line, tuning bench and certification process with our own consumer brand Musicube — the same instrument that is already selling on the US retail market under the Musicube name.
From the Catalog: The Primary Metallophone Line
The bars with the laser of the note enable a visual connection between the sheet music and the instrument. When improvising with self-created melodies, children always have a visual reference to the printed notation. From the other perspective, the players get a feeling of how a play note sounds. All Primary metallophones have 32 x 8 mm (Soprano and Alto) or 36 x 10 mm (Bass) sound bars with fundamental tuning. The newly designed resonator box with enhanced acoustics are made of solid and laminated birch. The resonator boxes of the Musicube metallophones are made from FSC® certified timber from well managed forests. In addition, all wood surfaces are protected with Water-based paint, an environmentally safe, all-natural varnish.
Each metalophone is equipped with a carrying bag to stow 3 bars (2 x f-sharp, 1 x b-flat).
Quality & Manufacturing
The resonator box is built from 12 mm birch plywood with FSC® certified timber from well managed forests, finished in water-based paint — an environmentally safe, all-natural varnish. Special aluminum bars receive sandblasting and anodizing treatment for the clear and powerful sound — 32 × 8 mm across the upper range and a heavier 36 × 10 mm gauge for the six deepest bars — and sit on flexible pins over multiple resonance chambers. Batch-level EN 71, ASTM F963 and GB 6675 reports are available for every shipment, issued under your brand name.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does the bass metallophone differ from the soprano and alto?
A: Register, bar gauge and box size. The 051303 spans C3–A4 with six of its bars thickened to 36 × 10 mm, mounted in a 356 mm deep birch box — built for fundamentals, while the 051301 (C5–A6) and 051302 (C4–A5) use 32 × 8 mm bars throughout.
Q: Is the bass playable by younger children?
A: Yes — bass parts are typically the simplest lines in the arrangement (root notes, ostinato loops), and the dark blue rubber mallets from the 3-level hardness system keep the attack forgiving while the instrument carries the room.
Q: Can we buy the three metallophones as a set?
A: Absolutely — soprano, alto and bass share construction, tuning system and certifications by design. Request a quote with all three SKUs and we will price the classroom set as one line, with mixed carton loading for container efficiency.
Q: What is the MOQ for OEM orders?
A: MOQ and carton configuration depend on your customization level and destination market — they are confirmed on your quotation rather than a fixed published number. Send your quantity and target market for a costed proposal within 24 hours.
