Built for the Middle of the Ensemble

From the other perspective the players get a feeling of how a play note sounds. The bars printed with note names and staff positions, help the player connect the sound of the note with its notation, which is helpful when improvising or playing self-created melodies.

The newly designed particularly stable resonator box with enhanced acoustics are made of solid and 12 mm laminated birch. The sound bars and resonator boxes of Musicube xylophones are made of FSC certified timber from well managed forests. In addition, all wood surfaces are protected with Water-based paint, an environmentally safe, all-natural varnish.

High quality bars combined with complex resonance chambers in the alto and bass ranges always produce ample volume and rich, strong sound — for professional music lessons, these instruments fulfill every need.

The Alto Voice: Why C4–A5 Works So Hard in Classrooms

Every Orff classroom needs a soprano for sparkle and a bass for foundation — but the melodic work happens in the middle. The alto range C4–A5 sits where children most comfortably sing, which makes the 051306 the natural instrument for melody-and-voice work:

  • Sings with the class: pitches in the C4–A5 window match children’s vocal range, so pupils can sing the line they are about to play
  • The melody carrier: bordun accompaniment stays on the deeper bars while lead melodies live on the upper half — one instrument, both roles
  • Quieter classroom, faster progress: the warmer alto voice sits under singing instead of masking it, unlike a soprano-only setting
  • A step toward the soprano model: identical 16-bar three-key layout and songbook as the 051305 Soprano — pupils move between the two without re-learning
  • Chamber-friendly volume: complex resonance chambers give the alto range ample projection without amplification

Why the Alto Resonator Box Is Deeper

Place the 051306 next to the 051305 and the first thing you notice is the taller box: 226 mm wide and 221 mm high against the soprano’s 187 × 131 mm. That extra air volume is not cosmetic — it is the acoustics doing their job one octave lower:

  • Larger chambers for longer waves: a C4 fundamental is twice the wavelength of C5, and the deeper 051306 chambers let those longer waves develop fully before the sound port
  • Ample volume without shouting: the catalog line about complex resonance chambers producing “ample volume and rich, strong sound” is an alto-and-bass property — the soprano box is deliberately shallower for its brighter register
  • Fundamental tuning stability: the taller box gives the 32 x 8 mm bars more air coupling, keeping the fundamentals true while the overtone stays in check
  • Still classroom-portable: despite the deeper body, side handles and the 645 mm footprint keep it on the same trolley shelf as the soprano model

Specifiers comparing the two should treat box height as the acoustic spec, not just a dimension: when a tender asks for a fuller mid-register voice, the 051306’s deeper resonator is the reason it delivers.

Key-signature curriculum — C, G and F major from one instrument via the add-on bars

Shared music rooms — side handles and a 645 mm box make trolley storage practical

Product Positioning

The 051306 Alto is the workhorse of the hardwood xylophone trio: the same 16-bar three-key system, box platform and certification set as the soprano, one octave lower, with the volume and projection that the alto and bass resonance chambers deliver. Classrooms that start with the 051305 Soprano almost always add this alto next — melody moves here as soon as pupils outgrow the top range.

It shares the production line, tuning bench and certification process with our own consumer brand Musicube — the same instrument that is already selling on the US retail market under the Musicube name. Complete the hardwood choir with the 051307 Bass (C3–A4, baby blue mallets, extremely compact for its range).

Quality & Manufacturing

The resonator box is built from solid and 12 mm laminated birch with FSC® certified timber from well managed forests, finished in water-based paint — an environmentally safe, all-natural varnish. Hardwood bars receive the exclusive paint process for the clear and powerful sound and sit on flexible pins over multiple resonance chambers. Batch-level EN 71, ASTM F963 and GB 6675 reports are available for every shipment, issued under your brand name.

OEM / ODM: Make It Yours

Once the instrument is proven, the next question is how it starts carrying your brand:

  • Logo: print on the birch resonator box, from low trial quantities.
  • Songbook: your brand and your own song selection on the colored-keys songbook.
  • Mallet colors: the three-level hardness system can ship in your Pantone-matched colors at volume — the alto ships standard with yellow heads.
  • Packaging: the brown box takes a full-color sleeve, or we quote a full-color box from volume.
  • FSC® claims: chain-of-custody documentation supports your sustainability labeling under your brand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the 051306 Alto differ from the 051305 Soprano xylophone?

A: Range and box size. The alto spans C4–A5 on a 645 × 226 × 221 mm box with deeper resonance chambers; the soprano spans C5–A6 on a 615 × 187 × 131 mm box. Layout, bar material, songbook and certifications are identical by design, and the mallet colors differ (yellow for alto, red for soprano) so pupils sort them at a glance.

Q: Why is the alto range recommended for singing classrooms?

A: C4–A5 overlaps the range where children most comfortably sing, so the instrument accompanies rather than competes with the voice — pupils can sing the melody they are about to play, then play it back.

Q: Can we buy the soprano, alto and bass xylophones as a set?

A: Yes — the 051305, 051306 and 051307 share construction, the three-key tuning system and certifications by design. Request a quote with all three SKUs and we will price the classroom set as one line with mixed carton loading.

Q: What is the MOQ for OEM orders?

A: MOQ and carton configuration depend on your customization level and destination market — they are confirmed on your quotation rather than a fixed published number. Send your quantity and target market for a costed proposal within 24 hours.
