The semi-circular is the smallest headless tambourine we build: a 135 mm ABS frame light enough for the youngest players to hold in one hand, with four stainless steel bells that answer every shake. No drumhead, nothing to tear or tune — and the factory spec sheet names the use case outright: great for music education, classroom and home. Six colors, six order codes: 020041 red, 020042 orange, 020043 yellow, 020044 green, 020045 blue and 020047 purple.

Why the Smallest Frame Wins the First Lesson

Size is the whole argument for this model, and it is an argument teachers recognise:

  • One-hand size. At 135 mm the semi-circular fits a three-year-old’s grip without a two-handed clutch — the difference between a child playing the instrument and a child managing it.
  • Four bells, evenly voiced. Each bell position carries a pair of stainless metal discs; four positions is the right density for small hands — present in a shake, never masking the singing or the teacher.
  • Nothing to tear. No head, no tension ring, no tuning — the failure mode that ends most tambourines does not exist in this frame. For shared sets, an annual consumable becomes a multi-year asset.

The trade-off is honest: there is no drum voice and the frame is too small for older players. Where a programme needs both, or grows with the children, the oval (020031 / 020035 / 020038 / 020039) and arch (020013) shapes are the next steps up on the same platform.

Four Shapes, One Idea: Choosing Within the Family

020041 group · semi-circular 135 × 110 × 28 mm · 4 bells · the smallest — one-hand size for the youngest players, six colors — this page
020031 group · oval 270 × 185 × 40 mm · 7 bells · solid, light and sturdy construction, four colors — see the oval page
020013 · arch 255 × 190 × 45 mm · 16 bells · the NEW! flagship — most bells, easy grip, black as shown — see the arch page
020051 group · bat 280 × 130 × 46 mm · 12 bells · beech wooden handle, shake-and-strike, six colors — see the bat page

All four shapes run on the same ABS-and-stainless platform, so a mixed order arrives as one product family with one parts list.

Product Positioning

The semi-circular is the entry point of a four-shape headless family — oval (020031 / 020035 / 020038 / 020039), arch (020013) and bat with wooden handle (020051 / 020052 / 020054 / 020055 / 020056 / 020058) — each on its own page with its own size and bell count. This shape is also a proven component in multi-piece rhythm sets: our Rhythm Set – Beginner 4-Piece lists one semi-circular tambourine with four bells (020041) among its four instruments. Where a programme needs tone as well as shimmer, the headed tambourine lines are the complement: the high-grade beech and birch-and-leather families run on separate production lines, so headed and headless models can be ordered together as one shipment.

It shares the production line with our own consumer brand Musicube — the same instrument family already selling on the US retail market under the Musicube name.

Quality & Manufacturing

The shell is moulded in durable ABS and the four-bell stainless set is mounted and checked as a complete frame before packing — each bell seated, each retaining pin closed, the grip zone inspected for flash. Because there is no head, there is no tensioning step and nothing to drift in transit. Where applicable, product testing and compliance documentation are reviewed according to the target market and agreed product requirements — tell us your destination market and we will confirm what applies to your order.

OEM / ODM: Make It Yours

Once the instrument is proven, the next question is how it starts carrying your brand:

  • Logo: print on the shell or the bell mounting plate, from low trial quantities.
  • Colors: the six-color range is standard — volume orders can match your Pantone on the ABS shell.
  • Bell count: four as standard; the oval (7), bat (12) and arch (16) shapes cover larger hands and denser programmes on the same platform.
  • Packaging: the full-color box takes your artwork natively — no sleeve needed.
  • Set building: mixed colors in one carton for classroom kits, barcoded per SKU.
  • Documentation: where applicable, product testing and compliance documentation are reviewed according to the target market and agreed product requirements.

  • MOQ, carton quantity and container loading are confirmed on your quotation — ask with your quantity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why choose a headless tambourine over a standard one?

A: There is no head to tear, tune or replace, and the ABS frame wipes clean and nests for storage. It is the maintenance-free jingle voice for classrooms and rental fleets. The trade-off is that it carries no drum tone — where a programme needs both, pair it with a hand drum from the same factory.

Q: How many bells does it actually have?

A: Four bell positions, each mounted with a pair of stainless metal discs — the factory spec counts positions as bells, and our photography shows the pair-mounting clearly so there is no ambiguity at goods-in.

Q: Which color should we stock for a first order?

A: Most programmes lead with red (020041) and blue (020045) for class-set visibility, then add the full six-color range for retail. Mixed-color cartons are standard, barcoded per SKU at packing — confirm the mix on your quotation.

Q: What is the MOQ for OEM orders?

A: MOQ and carton configuration depend on your customization level and destination market — they are confirmed on your quotation rather than a fixed published number. Send your quantity and target market for a costed proposal within 24 hours.
