The high-grade hand drum is the beech step-up of our frame-drum range: a beech plywood shell in PU paint, a deeper 55 mm frame and a multi-layer composite drumhead built to feel like animal hide while staying easy to wipe clean. Four diameters share one shell design — the 6″ (030601) for preschool circles, the 8″ (030801) for primary classrooms, the 10″ (031001) for ensemble work, and the 12″ (031201), the largest frame we build in this family, for stage and outdoor programmes. All four nest visually as one instrument.

What Changes When You Move Up a Grade

Buyers comparing our two hand-drum families ask one question: what does the upgrade actually change? Four things — and all four are visible in the hand and in a product photograph.

Shell timber Poplar plywood → beech plywood — a denser sheet with a tighter, paler grain
Shell depth 45 mm → 55 mm — a deeper frame that sits more securely in the palm
Finish Water-based paint → PU paint — a harder, smoother film with more sheen
Size ladder Three diameters → four — the 12″ (031201) is new to the family and the largest frame we build

Everything else stays the same on purpose: the same chamfered bearing edge, the same finger hole, the same black binding ring and the same full-color box. A school can upgrade part of its percussion trolley without changing how the instruments look, feel in the hand or get ordered.

One Family, Four Sizes: The Ladder

030601 · 6″ 150 mm · lap-sized — toddler groups, gift sets, first drums
030801 · 8″ 200 mm · the classroom workhorse — enough head area for clear tone drills
031001 · 10″ 250 mm · the fuller voice — ensemble bass-lines and big group circles
031201 · 12″ 300 mm · the largest frame in the family — stage, outdoor and worship programmes

All four share the 55 mm frame family and the same black binding, so a mixed order arrives looking like one instrument rather than four unrelated products.

Grip, Edge and Head: The Three Details Buyers Check

  • The handy finger hole is cut through the shell, so the drum hangs on one finger and can be played from a seated circle without a two-handed clutch — the difference between playing for one song and playing for a whole lesson.
  • The chamfered bearing edge rounds the join between shell and head: comfortable against the palm for slap and thumb-roll playing, and a finished edge rather than exposed plywood.
  • The multi-layer composite head is tensioned over that edge and closed with the black binding ring. It reads like a skin head in catalog and classroom photographs, while wiping clean and holding up in humid rooms.

Product Positioning

The 03xx01 hand drum family is the high-grade line of the Royalsound frame-drum range: beech plywood and PU paint for programmes that want the upgrade, with the 12″ available nowhere else in the family. It sits above the standard poplar hand drum (030602 / 030802 / 031002) and pairs with the jingle side of the catalogue — the high-grade beech tambourine and the birch tambourine with a buffalo-leather head share the same production platform, so a buyer can assemble a complete rhythm kit from one supplier.

It shares the production line with our own consumer brand Musicube — the same instrument family already selling on the US retail market under the Musicube name.

Quality & Manufacturing

The shell is built from sturdy laminated beech plywood with a chamfered bearing edge and finished in PU paint; the composite head is tensioned and bound in the same workshop, and head tension is checked before packing. Where applicable, product testing and compliance documentation are reviewed according to the target market and agreed product requirements — tell us your destination market and we will confirm what applies to your order.

OEM / ODM: Make It Yours

Once the instrument is proven, the next question is how it starts carrying your brand:

  • Logo: print on the head or the shell, from low trial quantities.
  • Colors: natural beech is the default — volume orders can match your Pantone on the head binding or the shell.
  • Packaging: the full-color box takes your artwork natively — no sleeve needed.
  • Set building: mixed 6″/8″/10″/12″ cartons for classroom kits, barcoded per SKU.
  • Accessories: mallets and other add-ons are quoted per order — tell us what your programme needs and we will confirm what ships in the box.
  • Documentation: where applicable, product testing and compliance documentation are reviewed according to the target market and agreed product requirements.

Packaging & Export

What lands at your warehouse:

  • Each unit packed in a full-color box; export cartons engineered for drop-test survival, mixed sizes allowed per carton for class-set orders.
  • Shipping terms: FOB Ningbo/Shanghai; DDP available for EU and US destinations.
  • MOQ, carton quantity and container loading are confirmed on your quotation — ask with your quantity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is this different from your standard hand drum?

A: Four things: beech plywood instead of poplar, a 55 mm frame instead of 45 mm, a PU paint finish instead of water-based paint, and a multi-layer composite head instead of a plain plastic head. The bearing edge, finger hole and size ladder are the same, so the two families sit side by side in a classroom without looking mismatched — and this family adds the 12″.

Q: Which size should we stock?

A: For a first assortment the 8″ (030801) is the classroom default and the volume mover; add the 6″ (030601) for preschool and gift programs, the 10″ (031001) for ensemble buyers and the 12″ (031201) for stage and outdoor programmes. All four nest visually as one family, so a four-SKU shelf strip reads as a line rather than four products.

Q: Is a mallet included?

A: The high-grade family is specified as a hand-played frame drum; the factory spec sheet for this line does not list an included mallet. If your programme needs mallets, tell us on your quotation and we will confirm what ships in the box for your order.

Q: What is the MOQ for OEM orders?

A: MOQ and carton configuration depend on your customization level and destination market — they are confirmed on your quotation rather than a fixed published number. Send your quantity and target market for a costed proposal within 24 hours.
