The bat is the only headless tambourine we build with a wooden handle: a crescent ABS body carrying twelve stainless steel bells on a beech handle, so it plays two ways — shaken from the handle like a tambourine, or turned over and struck like a small frame percussion instrument. No drumhead, nothing to tear or tune. The factory spec sheet gives it the broadest brief in the family — for every conceivable musical situation — and the largest bell count: twelve, in six positions of pair-mounted discs. Six colors, six order codes: 020051 red, 020052 orange-red, 020054 green, 020055 teal, 020056 blue and 020058 purple.

Two Ways to Play, One Frame
The handle is the whole argument for this model, and it is an argument older players recognise:
- Shake it. Held by the beech handle, the crescent body swings free — twelve bells answer the wrist with a fuller wash than any frameless shape in the family.
- Strike it. Turned over, the ABS body takes a mallet or a hand: the same instrument covers a struck-percussion line in a classroom kit, which is why the factory spec gives it the broadest brief in the family — for every conceivable musical situation.
- Nothing to tear. No head, no tension ring, no tuning — the failure mode that ends most tambourines does not exist in this frame. For shared sets, an annual consumable becomes a multi-year asset.
The trade-off is honest: the handle adds a part that can be knocked, and at 280 mm the body is too large for the youngest one-hand players — the semi-circular (020041–020047) is that instrument.
Four Shapes, One Idea: Choosing Within the Family
| 020051 group · bat | 280 × 130 × 46 mm · 12 bells · beech wooden handle, shake-and-strike, six colors — this page |
| 020013 · arch | 255 × 190 × 45 mm · 16 bells · the NEW! flagship — most bells, easy grip, black as shown — see the arch page |
| 020031 group · oval | 270 × 185 × 40 mm · 7 bells · solid, light and sturdy construction, four colors — see the oval page |
| 020041 group · semi-circular | 135 × 110 × 28 mm · 4 bells · the smallest — one-hand size for the youngest players, six colors — see the semi-circular page |
All four shapes run on the same ABS-and-stainless platform, so a mixed order arrives as one product family with one parts list.

Product Positioning
The bat is the handled member of a four-shape headless family — arch (020013), oval (020031 / 020035 / 020038 / 020039) and semi-circular (020041–020047) — each on its own page with its own size and bell count. This shape is also a proven component in multi-piece percussion sets: our Percussion Set – Storage Tote 17-Piece lists one headless hand tambourine with twelve bells (020056) among its seventeen instruments. Where a programme needs tone as well as shimmer, the headed tambourine lines are the complement: the high-grade beech and birch-and-leather families run on separate production lines, so headed and headless models can be ordered together as one shipment.
It shares the production line with our own consumer brand Musicube — the same instrument family already selling on the US retail market under the Musicube name.
Quality & Manufacturing
The body is moulded in durable ABS and the twelve-bell stainless set is mounted and checked as a complete frame before packing; the beech handle is fitted, glued and load-checked as a separate operation, so the joint arrives tight. Because there is no head, there is no tensioning step and nothing to drift in transit. Where applicable, product testing and compliance documentation are reviewed according to the target market and agreed product requirements — tell us your destination market and we will confirm what applies to your order.

OEM / ODM: Make It Yours
Once the instrument is proven, the next question is how it starts carrying your brand:
- Logo: print on the body or the handle, from low trial quantities.
- Colors: the six-color range is standard — volume orders can match your Pantone on the ABS body.
- Handle: beech as standard — alternative timbers and finishes can be discussed for volume programmes.
- Bell count: twelve as standard; the oval (7), semi-circular (4) and arch (16) shapes cover the rest of the programme on the same platform.
- Packaging: the full-color box takes your artwork natively — no sleeve needed.
- Documentation: where applicable, product testing and compliance documentation are reviewed according to the target market and agreed product requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why choose a headless tambourine over a standard one?
A: There is no head to tear, tune or replace, and the ABS body wipes clean and nests for storage. The bat adds a second playing method — struck as well as shaken — which is why it carries the broadest brief in the family. The trade-off is that it carries no drum tone; where a programme needs both, pair it with a hand drum from the same factory.
Q: How many bells does it actually have?
A: Twelve stainless steel bells in six positions, each position mounted with a pair of metal discs. The factory spec counts the twelve bells — our photography shows the pair-mounting clearly so there is no ambiguity at goods-in.
Q: Is the handle strong enough for striking?
A: The beech handle is fitted and load-checked as a separate assembly operation, and the ABS body takes hand or mallet strikes in normal classroom use. For heavy orchestral strike work, tell us the intended duty on your quotation and we will confirm the specification.
Q: What is the MOQ for OEM orders?
A: MOQ and carton configuration depend on your customization level and destination market — they are confirmed on your quotation rather than a fixed published number. Send your quantity and target market for a costed proposal within 24 hours.
