The birch line is our high-grade tambourine for buyers who want the look and voice of a traditional skin head without the upkeep: a birch plywood shell in PU paint, a deeper 55 mm frame, and a real translucent buffalo leather drumhead that photographs warm and organic straight out of the box. Three diameters share one shell design — the 6″ (010605) for preschool circles, the 8″ (010805) with brass bells for primary classrooms, and the 10″ (011007) with a dense 16-bell set for ensemble and stage work.

What the Translucent Leather Head Actually Changes
Buyers comparing our tambourine lines ask one question: what does the birch-and-leather upgrade buy? Three things, all visible in the hand and in a product photograph.
- The look. The buffalo leather head is translucent — light passes through at the rim and the natural grain reads in every shot, so catalog and retail photography needs no colour grading to look like a traditional instrument.
- The voice. The factory spec calls it a natural, strong and clear sound: less of the synthetic “tap” of a plastic head, more of the woody bloom classroom players expect from a skin tambourine.
- The bells. Brass on the 8″ gives a softer, warmer attack than stainless; the 10″ carries a dense 16-bell stainless set for maximum shimmer. Mixed-bell orders across sizes are possible on request.
The honest trade-off: a leather head wants drier storage than a composite head. For humid classrooms and high-turnover rental fleets, our beech tambourine with the hide-feel composite head (010601 / 010801 / 011001) is the pragmatic pick — same size ladder, same production platform, wipe-clean head.
One Family, Three Sizes: The Ladder
| 010605 · 6″ | 165 mm · 5 stainless steel bells · smallest hands, circle-time shaking, gift-box friendly |
| 010805 · 8″ | 215 mm · 7 brass bells · the classroom default — a warmer attack at the volume size |
| 011007 · 10″ | 265 mm · 16 stainless steel bells · the fullest voice — ensemble, church and stage use |
All three share the 55 mm frame, the chamfered bearing edge, the finger hole and the same black binding ring, so a mixed order arrives looking like one instrument rather than three unrelated products.

Product Positioning
This is the top of our tambourine range. It sits above the beech tambourine with a hide-feel composite head (010601 / 010801 / 011001), which in turn sits above the standard poplar tambourine (010602 / 010802 / 011002). All three share the same size ladder and production platform, so a buyer can mix grades within one programme without mismatched looks. Denser jingle versions of the beech shell are available as dedicated models: the 8″ with 12 brass bells (010810 / 010811) and the 10″ / 12″ denser stainless sets (011006 / 011206).
It pairs with the drum side of the same percussion section — the Kids Hand Drum (030602 / 030802 / 031002) and our new high-grade beech hand drum in four sizes (030601 / 030801 / 031001 / 031201). Both families come off the same production line, so a complete rhythm kit can be assembled from one supplier.
It shares the production line with our own consumer brand Musicube — the same instrument family already selling on the US retail market under the Musicube name.
Quality & Manufacturing
The shell is built from sturdy laminated birch plywood with a chamfered bearing edge and finished in PU paint; the buffalo leather head is tensioned and bound in the same workshop, and bell seating is checked before packing. Where applicable, product testing and compliance documentation are reviewed according to the target market and agreed product requirements — tell us your destination market and we will confirm what applies to your order.

OEM / ODM: Make It Yours
Once the instrument is proven, the next question is how it starts carrying your brand:
- Logo: print on the head or the shell, from low trial quantities.
- Head material: translucent buffalo leather is the signature of this line; the composite-head beech tambourine is the drop-in alternative where climate demands it.
- Bells: stainless on the 6″ and 10″, brass on the 8″ as standard — all-stainless or all-brass sets on request.
- Colors: natural birch is the default — volume orders can match your Pantone on the head binding or the shell.
- Packaging: the full-color box takes your artwork natively — no sleeve needed.
- Documentation: where applicable, product testing and compliance documentation are reviewed according to the target market and agreed product requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Birch or beech — which line should we stock?
A: The beech line with the composite head is the all-climate classroom workhorse. The birch line with the translucent buffalo-leather head is the presentation choice — retail, studios and gifting, where the traditional look sells the instrument. Same size ladder, same production platform, so the two lines sit side by side on a shelf without looking mismatched.
Q: Why brass bells on the 8″ only?
A: Brass gives a softer, warmer attack at the mid size, where most classroom playing happens; stainless keeps more cut and corrosion margin at the smallest and largest diameters. All-stainless or all-brass sets across the ladder are available on request.
Q: Is the leather head replaceable?
A: The head is tensioned and bound over the chamfered edge as a workshop assembly — replacement is a factory service rather than a field swap. For maintenance-free classroom use, the composite-head beech line is the practical pick.
Q: What is the MOQ for OEM orders?
A: MOQ and carton configuration depend on your customization level and destination market — they are confirmed on your quotation rather than a fixed published number. Send your quantity and target market for a costed proposal within 24 hours.
